I have a 3 year old Humax digital recorder with Freeview which is connected to my current TV by a SCART socket, I intend to change this TV to a LG32LV355T Full HD Ready LED TV with built in Freeview HD. I appreciate that if I record programmes on the Humax box I will not be able to view them in HD but what I am concerned about is, if my Humax box is connected to the new TV will I be able to watch all unrecorded TV programmes in HD or will the Freeview in the Humax box ?over ride? the Freeview HD in the TV and therefore will I only be able watch programmes in standard Freeview. Hope you can understand this question as I am not very technically minded!
With your Humax recorder connected to the new HDTV you will need to swap between the in-built Freeview HD tuner and the Humax box using the source selection functionally on the remote. The Humax box connected to the SCART input on the back of the TV will probably appear as something like an AV or SCART input and that will be distinct from the TV's own Freeview tuner. You'll able to watch both, but not at the same time and they won't override each other.

I am a Virgin Media customer and have a V Box. I am about to buy a Samsung HDTV with built-in Freeview HD. I want to remove the V Box and just use the built-in Freeview. Is this possable and do i need any new equipment to see Freeview HD on the tv?
You'll obviously need a connection to an aerial of some sort in order to pick up Freeview. If you live in an area of the country where digital-switchover is complete and Freeview HD transmission have begun you should also be able to pick up the high-definition channels too:

You shouldn't need any extra equipment.

I've bought an LG42LK450U TV. It has built-in Freeview and is Full HD, however I can't get any HD Freeview Channels. I've checked my area for HD coverage, the Preselli Transmitter and they say I should be able to receive them. I've phoned LG and they say I need a box. Why? f the TV has got Freeview built in and it's Full HD, why do I need anything else?
From the information I can find online it looks as though your HDTV only contains a standard-definition Freeview tuner which isn't compatible with the new Freeview HD channels. In order to receive the high-definition channels you'll need either a set-top decoder box or recorder box that contains one or more high-definition tuners and to connect that to your new HDTV with an HDMI cable.

I just got a Panasonic Viera LCD TV to replace an aged Sony TV. I'd just had Freesat installed and thought it would be the case to mirror the set up from the old TV to the new one with regard to the connections. Nothing I do however makes the Freesat appear on the TV. I have a Humax Foxsat HDR. My connections are obviously awry! Currently, I have the two satellite cables into the back of the Humax and then an HDMI cable from that to the HDMI 1 on the TV. When I select HDMI 1 on the TV, nothing happens. Help!
From afar your connections sound correct to me but issue with the HDMI connection with Froxsat HDRs seem to be quite common. The most common solution seem to be turning your HDTV on before you turn on the Foxsat box. Beyond that the problem is usually to do with the HDMI/HDCP handshake between the two devices so you might also like to experiment with any related settings in the devices set up menus. You final port of call for support should be to Humax themselves.

My neighbours cancelled their hd contract some months ago saying there was no difference in the viewing. We are a little worried as we are having it installed next week. Is the viewing different?
Assuming you have a television capable of displaying a high-definition picture you should be able to notice quite a difference between standard and high-definition pictures. I can't say what was wrong with your neighbours' experience but should you feel the same I would contact your television supplier.

My Toshiba 32BV801B TV does not switch on. I bought it brand new two months ago!
Assuming you bought your TV from a shop that should be your first port of call to see a replacement or refund if the TV if faulty. Beyond that the TV will also be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

My current setup is a TV with Freeview and 2 SCART connections, a DVD recorder also with 2 SCART and Freeview and a bog standard-definition Sky box with 2 SCARTS.
At present I can record a Sky programme whilst watching the Freeview from the TV tuner or record a Freeview channel from the DVD recorder whilst watching Sky.
I am looking to change my TV and DVD recorder bur most new TVs seem only to come with 1 SCART so is it impossible to keep my viewing/recording habits as mentioned above? The DVD recorder I am looking at is a combined HDD/disk from Panasonic model DMR-EX83EB-K.
The Panasonic device you're looking at features an HDMI output which is superior to SCART and will match with the HDMI input you find on just about any modern television. In fact a new TV will probably have multiple HDMI inputs. Even if you end up buying a new HDTV with only one SCART socket you'll be able to use that for your current Sky and watch as you do now, swapping between the recorder and Sky inputs via your remote as necessary.
Do note that the model you mention only contains a standard-definition Freeview tuner so you may wish to look for one that supports Freeview HD if you think watching and recording will be important to you in the future.

I have a LG HDTV with Freeview and Freesat what sort of recorder do I need as my old VCR does not work now that we have gone digital?
You need a recorder appropriate to the method by which you wish to receive digital television, you won't be able to record from the Freeview or Freesat tuners built in to your HDTV. If you have an aerial connection a Freeview+ recorder will work and similarly if you have a satellite dish on your home a Freesat recorder will work. If you have both the choice is yours.
